One of Patagonia Outfitters’ destination lodges in the Esquel area is El Palenque fly fishing lodge in Estancia El Palenque. For over one hundred years this place has been a well-kept secret. Just now being discovered, this area resembles British Columbia , Jackson Hole , Telluride and the Swiss Alps all rolled up in one. The fishing is reminiscent of Montana and New Zealand BEFORE people arrived.
Here in the dry rolling foothills of the eastern slope of the Andes some very good trout water is found. Fishing with Patagonia Outfitters at Estancia El Palenque you will access over 7 kilometers of the Corcovado river as well as spring creeks and the most diverse, interesting and challenging fishing waters you have ever seen.

The Corcovado is known for its large rainbow and brook trout. It has recently gained international notoriety because of Pacific Chinook Salmon that began to run up the Corcovado from Chile and finish their spawning right on the estancia. You will experience superb wading, fishing both with wet and dry flies and the evening hatches that bring the waters alive with gorging browns, rainbows and brook trout.
El Palenque is Patagonia Outfitters’ southernmost lodge in Patagonia . This rustic cozy lodge at the heart of a working cattle ranch is nestled between mountain ranges and comfortably accommodates up to ten guests in spacious double rooms and newly built attractive cabins, each with their private bathrooms. The lodge has a very comfortable and cozy living room with large windows overlooking the entire Corcovado valley during the day and the unbelievable starry nights.

The lodge has been highly acclaimed every year for its outstanding food, congenial staff, knowledgeable guides trained by Jorge Trucco of Patagonia Outfitters, and the proven extraordinary dry fly fishing. Horseback riding is available on a daily basis. This lodge is ideally located for those wishing to make the southern overland crossing of the Continental Divide into or out of Chile or with other lodges in Esquel or San Martín.
